Striking and Sophisticated Fall Weather Work Looks for Less

Autumn is here and the world is slowly but surely getting back to ‘normal,’ which means many of us are working in the office again. It may seem strange to pick out an outfit for the real world and not just Zoom, but I’m embracing it! I love doing my hair, skincare routine and simple makeup before my fifteen minute power walk to the office. The pandemic certainly put a wrench in things for a while, however the upside is that fashion designers have had lots of downtime to be creative and design some cool pieces. Here are the office-appropriate trends I’m loving and how to style fall weather work looks for less.

Rachel Comey for Target

I regularly shop at the massive Target downtown, and recently my jaw hit the floor when I stumbled upon their fall designer collections! Personally, I love Rachel Comey’s collection the best and immediately snapped up two of her pieces. This animal print sweater would be perfect to keep cozy when the office is chilly; plus a sophisticated leopard print like this is basically a neutral.

Of all the pieces still available in the collection, these Rachel Comey x Target chic printed jeans are a great option for a casual work day. The olive green and blush pink color combination pair together well and will never go out of style. There is also a matching quilted jacket if you hustle and visit your local Target that carries the collection!

How to Make Sweatshirts Chic For Work

I love a fall floral moment! For casual work days, this Pai sweatshirt from Levi’s is a unique buy. It’s soft to the touch and perfect for throwing on when you want to look effortlessly pulled together. You have more important things to do than worry about what to wear during a hectic morning! I would style it with a slim pencil midi skirt for a casual-chic juxtaposition.

This affordable pencil skirt from Mango would do the trick! Wear with tights when the weather turns chilly. If you pick patterned tights, just make sure the patterns compliment each other and don’t clash.

A Pop of Neon

What’s a fun twist on a classic workplace staple? Wear a blazer in a neon hue! This bright lime green version from ASOS will brighten up your coworker’s day. Accessorize minimally and let a statement piece like this be the star of the show. Pair with simple trousers, dainty gold jewelry and natural looking makeup.

These 14k gold triangle geometric earrings from The Urban Smith would complete this look. The jewelry company is based out of the US and has high quality, affordable jewelry. I have pieces that still look like new and are a decade old!

Office Appropriate Accessories

For an affordable spin on the classic quilted bag (Thanks Coco Chanel!) H&M has you covered this fall. Available in black and bright green, this chain strap bag will help to hold all your daily work day essentials.

In terms of functional accessories, Society 6 has high quality laptop sleeves. This gorgeous design features a dark floral pattern that works perfectly for autumn. And every purchase pays an independent artist!

Tips for Styling Fall Weather Work Looks

  • A well-designed leopard or animal print is a neutral! Pair one with anything from a black dress to jeans. Don’t forget a swipe of red lipstick or an accessory to lend a pop of color.
  • This might be obvious, but layering is key! From stowing button down cardigans in your desk to wearing tights with midi skirts, ensure you are comfortable during the work day.
  • Wearing a statement piece like a blazer in a neon hue is a fun way to perk up the day! Don’t over accessorize though. Assess your look in the mirror before leaving the house and take one accessory off if you really don’t need it.
