Committed To Equinox Roslyn

Since I moved out to Long Island two years ago I have been looking for “my” gym, and I finally found it. Equinox. I came to Northern Long Island from Manhattan as a barre rat. I was taking barre classes at exhale 4-5 times per week for over two years. Prior to having my children I was a spinning instructor for over 15 years so I never really had to pay for gym membership to a full-service gym. I just had access. I came out to Long Island and started taking classes at The Bar Method which I like, but they just aren’t as hard as exhale’s and what can I say? I like my butt kicked (into shape) hard. After my spinal surgery last March I was unable to work out at all. Hell, I could hardly bend. Eventually I was strong enough to go to physical therapy and was referred to Professional Physical Therapy located within the Equinox in Greenvale. Well it’s sorta Roslyn. I think. I’m still learning Long Island and Greenvale and Roslyn seem to be interchangeable. Anyway, I love my peeps at physical therapy and I see them about twice a week so I am a regular. Eventually, however, I was finally allowed to start doing some barre classes and work on strengthening my core again. Since I was already in Equinox (in physical therapy) I thought I would check out the gym. It’s a little bit of a drive for me (about 15 minutes) and there are closer gyms, but I like my gym clean and they don’t get cleaner than Equinox. Besides, I have learned a few shortcuts to get there quicker. I can no longer spin nor take any high impact classes, but that’s OK, because the Equniox in Roslyn (or Greenvale) has a wide variety of classes. They offer barre (2 kinds), Pilates and yoga classes which I can take with some modifications. Thankfully some of the barre classes are very similar in method to the ones I took at exhale which makes me very happy since there is no exhale out on Northern Long Island. equinox-2016-Commit-to-something-cat-lady equinox-2016-commit-to-something-cult-blonds-abs #COMMITTOSOMETHING I am also in LOVE with Equinox’s 2016 ad campaign called “Commit to Something!” Fashion photographer Steven Klein brilliantly captured the slogan in his gorgeous, daring photos for the campaign posted all over the gym. The collection of seven provocative images displays the powerful, conscious, human expression of commitment. Equinox believes commitment is achievement. It is a discipline. It is about having deliberate intentions and following through. Take action, to start committing to celebrate the attitude and merit of dedication. All seven vignettes (photos) in this ad campaign are a virtuous expression of taking deliberate action and going all in. “Equinox is about commitment, we are obsessed with it, and we challenge our members to know who they are and what they want. It’s not just about fitness – it’s about life. The concept of commitment is bold, incredibly powerful, and it’s real, especially in a world today where commitment is lacking,” says Carlos Becil, Equinox Chief Marketing Officer. The campaign itself resonates with me. 2016 is the year I take my body back! So I’ll be at the Roslyn/Greenvale location, but Equinox has 77 upscale locations across the country in cities such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Boston, New Jersey, Texas and Washington, DC, as well as international locations in London and Toronto. It’s not fitness. It’s life! #COMMITTOSOMETHING
