Celebrity Style: New Ways to Wear Watercolor Prints for Summer 2015

Chrissy Teigen, Olivia Palermo, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Doutzen Kroes,
Raise your hand if you thought watercolor prints were a summer trend. According to the Versace label, you’re not exactly correct. This year, Donatella Versace and her crew decided to infuse her Atelier Versace Couture collection with lots and lots of watercolors.
The runway show was presented for the Fall 2015 season but one can argue that fashion designers and their shows are so far ahead of schedule these days, you might be seeing Versace’s watercolors this summer.
And why not? Watercolor prints are a fun, vibrant and playful look for summer that can also be delicate and romantic. From sweet and soft to punchy and cool, here are how the celebrities are wearing this trend this season.
Chrissy Teigen Sexy Watercolor
Model Chrissy Teigen knows how to wear a trend, but she also knows how to make it super sexy without going over-the-top. At the Vogue Paris Foundation Gala in France, she added sexiness to her watercolors with a slit, deep V-neckline and a lining of velvet for some oomph.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Soft Watercolor
Wearing deconstructed Atelier Versace couture, Rosie HW is the perfect example of the soft watercolor print look that Donatella was all about for the season. Florals abound, but there’s also something to be said for the pink and blue pastels and the cutout details.
Olivia Palermo – Glittery Watercolor
Watercolor is a cool trend in and of itself, but give it a metallic sheen and you’ll get something totally unique and unexpected. That’s what Olivia Palermo did with her uber-chic glitter t-shirt and Marcus Lupfur pencil skirt which she recently wore to the Fendi couture runway show during Paris Couture Fashion Week. What do you think of this unique take on the watercolor print trend?
Doutzen Kroes – Punchy Watercolor
What’s another unique way to wear the watercolor print trend? Make it punchy and in-your-face a la Doutzen Kroes, whose white Stella McCartney halter dress speaks volumes, particularly with that color scheme near the bottom. It’s not your typical watercolor print look but that’s what makes it so special.
