5 Celebrities In The Most Showstopping Gowns of the Season

Celebs across the world are suddenly flaunting the most extravagant gowns. Something must be in the air, right? Maybe it’s because all of those events and awards shows that had to be postponed due to COVID-19 are suddenly back on. (Met Gala, Primetime Emmys, Tony Awards…). Maybe it’s because we’ve just had a slew of major red carpet events like the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. Or maybe, just maybe, the A-listers are ready to get back out there again in their finest couture. Here are five of our favorite celebrities in showstopping gowns.

5 Celebrities In Showstopping Gowns

Whatever the case, jaw-dropping looks are back and we’re hoping they’re here to stay.

Kate Middleton

We all know the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, knows her fashion and has worn many a stylish look to every occasion. From the luxury British brands like Alexander McQueen to the recycled looks to the long, statement-making coats in jewel tones like red and blue. she covers all the bases. Lately, we’ve noticed that she’s ready to kick her fashion up a notch – that purple pantsuit combo from Emilia Wickstead for a trip to Northern Ireland was everything – but I’m not sure it’s something she would have worn in the past.

And then there’s the golden sequined gown she wore to the No Time To Die premiere. The collective gasp heard ’round the world. It’s certainly one of the most daring looks Kate Middleton has ever worn. And to think, it was still Jenny Packham, Middleton’s go-to designer for the red carpet events. The embellished cape is everything. So is the fit. And who cares if she is being compared to Princess Diana or if the updo is a little messy? She’s had her own royal moment. It is one that will be remembered for years to come.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry certainly likes to make a statement and she’s had many opportunities to do so. Sometimes it’s too much and sometimes it just works. Mrs. Perry (she’s married now!) wore a violet Schiaparelli Fall 2021 Haute Couture gown when she was honored at Variety’s Power of Women event in Beverly Hills and boy, were those sleeves magical. Some might say they’re overpowering her, but she held her own and I don’t feel like this gown wore her.

I’ve seen pictures of this look on the runway, and it’s just not as good as how Katy wore it. There’s something about the way she holds her shoulders, the way she fans out the skirt, and the way the gown just doesn’t balloon on her. The model who wore it on the runway was just too petite and you need someone with a figure to pull it off and she does.

Celebrities In Showstopping Gowns: Irina Shayk

This fishtail dress by Thierry Mugler is stunning on model Irina Shayk. Apparently, JLo has also worn the dress, but it’s hands down so much better on her. She certainly looks like a butterfly in it and the array of colors is magical. Shayk wore the gown to the “Thierry Mugler: Couturissime” exhibition during Paris Fashion Week. Fun fact: The gown is from Mugler’s 1997 couture collection, making it just about 24 years old.

Everything about this dress on Irina is just show-shopping from the way it fits to the flowing train. I’m not sure how I feel about the hair, shoes, or even the gloves, but it’s easy to ignore them when you have the rest of this astonishing look.

Celebrities In Showstopping Gowns Amber Iman

Amber Iman

Broadway actress Amber Iman stole the show at the 74th annual Tony Awards when she wore Naeem Khan on the red carpet. This look has literally quite everything you would ever want in a high-end ensemble. It includes embellishments, floral, a cape and bold color.

Iman made a stunning entrance in this gorgeous gown, and it wasn’t too much either. I thought she was so well put together too, from her earrings to her strappy shoes. Even her toe nail color seemed to go with the look even though sky blue was nowhere to be seen on the look.

Celebrities In Showstopping Gowns: Zawe Ashton

At first, the Carolina Herrera look on Zawe Ashton gives off the impression of frothy cupcake. But upon closer look, there’s so much more to the ensemble she wore to the Tony Awards. Though the big talk of the night for this English actress was her rumored relationship with actor heartthrob Tom Hiddleston, they should have been talking about this dress. The tulle overlay could have gone totally wrong, but it was placed just right, that glamorous and elegant replaced whimsy and playful. It’s also not a look I’m used to seeing from the highly elegant Carolina Herrera but it’s still so utterly feminine and romantic that I have to love it just as much as all of the others.

Seems like Zawe Ashton is the real eye candy around here, not you, Mr. Hiddleston.
