If you have a wedding to attend this summer you may be looking for something to wear. Things are looking brighter as venues are opening up so why not wear a brilliant colored dress for the occasion? I am attending a wedding this August that was postponed from last year and it will certainly be something to celebrate. I’m excited to get dressed up for the occasion and was inspired to put together this bright pink wedding guest dress outfit.
This gorgeous shocking pink Oscar de la Renta midi dress with a striking bow detail in the back caught my eye and got me thinking. How would I style it if I had all the money in the world? So I did that, but also found lower-priced counterparts for the outfit to make it more affordable. Another option is to mix up some of the high-end designer pieces with the low-priced look-alike items for what is truly high low fashion. You decide! Here’s how to style a hot pink wedding guest dress high and low.
Wedding Guest Dress High And Low
The Bright Pink Dress
A wedding guest dress should be festive and comfortable too. This Oscar de la Renta dress is made of elegant double face wool that drapes beautifully. The midi length and trumpet hem are easy to wear and the bow detail in the back adds a little drama. This dress is like a work of art and worth the investment of $2190. However, a much less expensive option is this bright pink Eliza J Sleeveless Side Tuck Ruffle Dress for only $138. It has the same bateau neckline in the front and its asymmetrical ruffle gives it a sculptural look.
The Strappy Heel Sandals
The color of this dress is so bright that adding another pop of color with your shoes adds a little interest and fun. These beautiful strappy Bottega Veneta leather sandals in sky blue are perfect. But if you don’t want to spend $780 on a pair of sandals, Marc Fisher Ltd makes a light blue pair of strappy sandals with a less treacherous heel for only $138. Besides, this low-priced pair has a similar on-trend square toe.
The Evening Bag
A simple gleaming minaudière clutch is just right for this wedding guest dress. It’s small but all you need to carry your essentials to a formal event. You can purchase this amazing handcrafted Jeffrey Levinson Elina PLUS glittered rainbow enamel clutch for $1450 or pick up this Nina Pacey Crystal Minaudière for $65 and save $1385.
There is a lot going on with both of the pink dresses, so jewelry should be kept to a minimum so it does not compete with the ruffles and bows. I chose this exquisite Vhernier Pan Di Zucchero 18K Rose Gold Bracelet for $19,100. (Remember I said I would style this outfit as if money is no object.) But I did find this Katya Cuff Bracelet by The Accessory Junkie and it has a similar look and feel for only $138.
Wedding Guest Dress Tips
1. Pick a bright color you love. Don’t be afraid of color. The bride will shine brighter in white and bold color adds to the festivity.
2. Choose a style that you can move and dance in. You don’t want to worry about skirt slits opening, strapless bras or bra straps showing. You will feel comfortable and that will make you even happier about the wedding.
3. Add a pop of color with accessories when wearing a bright colored dress. Neutral accessories will make the dress color stand out but adding another color in your shoes or clutch will make the eye move around to the accessories.
4. With super sculptural or asymmetric dresses, keep your jewelry to a minimum. One cuff bracelet, a large ring or a pair of statement earrings is all you need.
