The Best Beauty Trends From New York Fashion Week Fall ’16
As is usually the case, you have to take some of the beauty trends that come from New York Fashion Week (NYFW) with a grain of salt. It’s not likely you will see anyone wearing feathers glued on to their painted nails (like at Libertine) or with glitter highlighted cheeks (like at Opening Ceremony) or frizzed out crazy-person hair with rags tied throughout (like at The Blondes). So we are only going to focus on the trends that are plausible and even then, be mindful of which you try – especially if you are over 35. We hope at this stage of life, you know which trends will work for you and which will make you look utterly ridiculous.
MAKEUP
One trend that is back and was at too many shows to even try to list was the full-thick eyebrow. Once again, they were everywhere and in some cases I even noticed a slight unibrow. As you age, the shape of your brows are essential for keeping you from looking your real age. I tried to grow my brows back out to their more natural (ahem, full) form and can attest, it was not a good look on me. I went back to my signature groomed brows, but kept them slightly fuller.
Another trend that was at too many shows to list and one we don’t particularly care for is the no-makeup makeup look. Unless you are under 30 and have spectacular skin and features, don’t attempt this look.
