Yves Saint Laurent has just announced it’s plans to phase out its Edition 24 label. According to WWD, the 2011 edition of the annual collection, designed as an array of easy, versatile pieces meant for travel, will be the last. The Edition 24 collection was introduced in 2007 as a mix-and-match selection of essentials geared toward an overnight trip, outfitting any possible journey from the Hamptons to Paris. The line was also a way to entice younger customers with edgy styles and a slightly lower pricepoint. Yet the decision to dismantle the Edition 24 label has been made. A YSL spokesman reportedly said the company would maintain “the breadth of the product the Edition line represented, but absorb it into the main collection”. The move into the main line is slated to begin with YSL’s spring-summer 2012 collection, which is set to be shown in October during Paris Fashion Week.
