As I’m getting older and my legs are not looking as good as they used to, I am finding skirts to be my summer savior. I still want to show a little leg, but I’m not comfortable wearing shorts as much as I did in my 30’s. I’m guessing I’m not alone. One skirt style I find myself gravitating towards also happens to be a hot trend for summer ’16 – the wrap skirt. Unlike the versions I (we) wore in the 70’s, many of today’s wrap skirts are faux wraps, so you don’t have to worry about it untying and causing embarrassment (I have a particularly vivid playground memory/nightmare).
Today’s wrap skirt is like a pencil skirt, but with a playful and chic twist. The cool asymmetric hemline the wrap-style makes it memorable and covetable. It’s also very versatile. You can go preppy with a simple white button down, or take it more street with a fitted simple tee, leather jacket and a collar necklace. Tip: If you are like me and don’t like the feeling of your thighs touching (and I don’t mean just walking, but merely just crossing your legs which is why I loved shorts) you may want to try an undergarment that are like shorts, but also flatter your natural shape and give you a smoother look.
