While a bit of sparkle is always in style, refreshing your jewelry collection is an easy way to keep your look feeling current. The same top or dress looks brand new with a different necklace, after all, or you could switch out your necklaces for bolder earrings or bracelets. Or even get another piercing or two in your ears for a bigger change! Here are some of the best ways to update your jewelry for Fall/Winter 2024.
Update Your Jewelry: Textural Contrast
Mixing metals is always interesting, but designers are playing with texture in new ways, blending brushed metal with polished shine, embossed details, and other ways to highlight the versatility of the gold, silver, or other metal being used. For instance, the crackled texture on this stacked gold cuff by Panacea (available at Nordstrom).

Or try these gold hoops with a contrasting silver wire wrap by Robert Lee Morris (via Amazon). They offer more visual interest than the standard shiny metal.
Earring “Suites”
While you may only have one piercing in each ear (for now), the latest looks involve a whole stack or “suite” of earrings, often delicate studs or dainty hoops. While we do encourage everyone to get an additional piercing or two if they’d like (just go to an actual piercing studio, not a mall store!), there are lots of ways to get the look with ear cuffs (like these options from Uncommon James and Ellie Vail) or Ear Charms (just look on Etsy for a plethora of options).
Standout Pendants
Longer necklaces or necklaces that create a dramatic V can be extremely flattering, since they draw the eye vertically. For instance, this coin necklace from Free People would bring attention to your collarbone and decolletage — just pair it with a button down or simple tee and you have a glammed up look with very little effort.
Collar-Style Necklaces
If you like the look of a choker or collar necklace, this season is a good time to add some new pieces to your collection. We love a collar necklace that offers some major impact, like this one from Rachel Glauber (available at Wolf & Badger) with its stunning snake design.
Unique Gemstones
Less common gemstones like moonstone, tanzanite, morganite, and similar stones are becoming more popular. (Or you can opt for faux versions of the above, but these stones are often on the more affordable side to begin with). For instance, this rich blue labradorite t-clasp necklace by Marie June (via Wolf & Badger) is only $61.
Or you can go for a vivid green like this aventurine and pearl necklace from Chan Luu.
An Added Bonus?
Jewelry always fits, it makes a great gift, and if you love a particular piece you can make it work in any season, regardless of the weather or occasion. It’s also easy to find versions of popular styles at any price point, and if you want something specific, check out small makers and artisans on Etsy — many will offer custom pieces!
