Alexis Bittar Hits Bloomingdale’s
Brooklyn based jewelry designer Alexis Bittar will open his first shop-in-shop in the 59th Street Bloomingdale’s flagship. The official opening is November 20, and will include pieces from from Bitter’s core collection such as: Lucite, Elements and Miss Havisham. Exclusive pieces will also be available and plans to further expand the brand is in the works with boutiques planned to open in Las Vegas and Washington.
Macy’s Latest Makeover Phase
Today the latest phase of the Macy’s Herald Square location makeover will be revealed on four more floors. The total makeover is estimated to take a massive four years, $400 million and will bring the total square footage to 1.2 million. Some plans for the makeover include multilevel shops for Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Burberry and Longchamps, a relocated fine jewelry space and the creation of what Macy’s calls the world’s largest shoe floor (more than 63,000 square feet).
New Editor-at-Large for Glamour.com
Yesterday Danica Lo returned to Glamour as the first online editor-at-large. Lo started as the site’s fashion and beauty editor and then left for the start-up site StyleBistro. Recently she was the executive editor at Epicurious to help with the site’s re-branding effort. As for glamour.com Lo wants to create more addictive content for women. She said, “Whether they’re watching TV, shopping, or working out, I want them to be logged onto glamour.com because there’s always something interesting to read.”
