Looks For Less: Velvety Holiday Handbags

There’s no doubt velvet is trending these days, especially with the 90’s trends coming back (for better, but often for worse). Luckily this trend is for better, and just in time for the holiday season. Velvet pants are very chic on a lot of women, but may not be for everyone (including me – I’m too short to pull them off). Also, velvet dresses tend to look like a figure skating costume on me. So what’s a girl to do? Invest in one (or all five) velvet bags!

Looks For Less: Latest Fall Shoe Trends (Get Five Pairs for the Price of One!)

Fall is finally here! (You’re no doubt reminded of the changing season every time you walk by a Starbucks.) The air is getting that refreshing crisp scent and the leaves are starting to turn beautiful colors. With all the excitement of Fashion Month coming to an end, it’s time to start thinking about transitioning your wardrobe for the cooler weather and wrapping yourself up in layers of coziness. Of course, no outfit is complete without the perfect pair of shoes to match. The shoe trend I’m currently loving for autumn are pairs with velvet and lace or brocade. The unique textures keep your outfit interesting and add another layer of detail to your ensemble. There are many inexpensive options that perfectly nail the look and can be styled in countless ways. Many also incorporate other popular shoe styles, like mules or ballet flats with tie-up laces

Looks for Less: Simply Tied Up Sandals

You may have noticed tie up sandals have been popping up everywhere this summer. Instead of boring, ugly Birkenstocks or (god forbid) flip flops, a sandal that’s unique and chic is finally available in a price range that won’t break the bank. Lately, I’ve been loving wrap around sandals in neutral colors that aren’t over-the-top or ridiculous looking, like those hideous gladiator ones that lace up to your knee. Sandals that tie up around your ankle are very versatile and can be paired with a maxi dress, a long skirt and button up shirt or with jeans and a tunic style top for sunset cocktails on the patio.

Looks For Less: The Nostalgic Nineties

For better or for worse, the 90’s decade is trending again in the fashion world. While I’m sure we could all take a pass on accessories like acid wash jeans, cheap tattoo chokers and jelly bracelets and sandals, some looks are worth reincorporating into your current ensembles. This time around, brands are doing a great job of making this trend feel fresh and updating pieces to not feel so “grungy.” Here are some of my favorite 90s pieces to wear without looking like you’re an extra in Clueless or a Nirvana music video.

Looks for Less: One Chic Caftan

Going to the beach with family and friends is a cherished tradition for many women. Whether it’s a fun-filled afternoon to get away from the busy atmosphere of the city or a week-long getaway to a tropical location, relaxing on the sand while enjoying a delicious, fruity drink never gets old. Of course, there are many fashionable ways to (safely!) soak up the sunshine. One idea is considering wearing a flattering, printed caftan.
