It’s likely you’ve been out less this winter for obvious reasons. And maybe your fashion hasn’t been on point. Let’s face it, you’ve been more home in sweats and pjs, locked down with kids and trying to maintain that work/life balance without having a social life. Here’s the thing, though. You may not have a reason to wear that new work cashmere sweater or those wide leg trousers, but everyone needs a stylish winter coat. You’re bound to go out sometime, right? So why not go out in style.
Stars In Stylish Winter Coats
In these unprecedented times, it’s tempting to forfeit style for warmth. Why not show the world you can have it all?
The celebs below are certainly showing us fashion and comfort go hand in hand. From practical trenches to long textured layers, it’s time to update your winter wardrobe with one of these A-lister favorites. Take a look at the stars for stylish winter coats.
One of the best examples of comfort and style, Katie Holmes always looks fashionable in an effortlessly put together kind of way, whether she’s wearing baggy jeans or a polka dot dress. One of the best ways she’s proven this is through her roundup of coats, which she likes to rotate every week (and perhaps even more so now that she’s out and about in New York with stylish New York boyfriend Emilio Vitolo.)
In December, Katie wore a camel-colored coat over a yellow hoodie and sweatpants. Also that month, she was seen in a textured burgundy number with large lapels over a turtleneck. Her coat of choice, however, seems to be a single-breasted coat that is refined and streamlined but doesn’t create a lot of attention and is typically black. She might accessorize it with a scarf or a funky bag but don’t expect her to try to make a statement in neon. It’s all about effortless sophistication for this actress.
Model and TV personality Chrissy Teigen’s fashion ranges from elegant to streetwear chic. She’s not afraid to make a statement but she also knows what works for her body, which is tall and properly curvy. This month, the social media maven was photographed with hubby John Legend and kids in tow in Washington DC wearing a Magda Butrym trench coat in beige with a pair of black boots and a big Bottega Veneta tote bag.
Of course, the trench totally played up her iconic GG Patterned Logo Tights in the black colorway from Gucci, which she wasn’t afraid to show off no matter how cold. On Instagram, she wrote, “was 35 degrees but I bought these tights the month quarantine started and I am tired of fucking around.” Well, as long as she’s got her trench!
The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton is never one to shy away from a stylish dress or the right coat. She’s been seen in her share of them since she first began accompanying Prince William to royal events years ago.
In December, the Duchess showed us her range of them when she paired her outfit to coat after coat during a 3-day Royal Train Tour. But these weren’t just any stylish winter coats, they were winter coats worn previously to other events in past years. Guess this recycling royal knows a good fashion coat when she sees one.
Kate wore a long emerald green coat from Alexander McQueen, which she first wore in January at an event in Bradford. The coat sparkled and had a furry neckline and big buttons. Next was a bright blue coat from Catherine Walker; this one didn’t need accessories or buttons as the color said it all. She wore that one to an event in Norway in 2018. Finally, Kate wore a navy blue, double-breasted coat with bronze buttons from Hobbs. I can’t wait to see which coat she’ll wear next. Whether it’s a new addition or a stylish winter coat recycled from the past, we know it’s going to look great on her.
Fashionable coats may have been the talk of the town during the inauguration, but one celeb that surely didn’t disappoint was Jennifer Lopez, a stylish A-lister who always knows a good coat when she sees one. Earlier that week, she was photographed in a houndstooth topper standing outside the Capitol.
During the inauguration itself, it was more than her voice that stood out. JLo, who is never afraid to wear white, stunned in a statement-making white Chanel coat over sparkly white pants and a ruffled blouse. As freezing temps and even some snow flurries have hit Washington DC lately, it’s just more proof that style and warmth really do work well together.
