Sassoon Salon Downtown NYC Welcomes New Creative Director Michael Forrey
Sassoon Salon in Downtown NYC has just welcomed a new Creative Director, Michael Forrey. So since we love Sassoon here at Second City Style (in both NY and Chicago) we (and by we I mean me, Lauren) had to go check him out! As it happnened I was in desperate need of a hair cut and if I can’t trust a creative director, who can I trust?
So one recent Friday I went to the downtown location to have my hair cut and chat with Michael at the salon where by this point, I pretty much know everybody (Hamid has been coloring my hair since I moved to NYC four years ago). So what did I learn about Michael? He’s been primarily based on the West Coast since 1999, leading the Sassoon Academy in San Francisco while building a very loyal clientele. By being heavily involved in the Academy and industry education, he has represented the Sassoon Creative Team in countless shows and seminars around the country. Also, by continuing to see clients, he’s been recognized in various publications, including San Francisco Magazine, Lucky, and Paper. So clearly the NYC salon is very excited to have him!
“Michael’s strength is in his creativity and ability to work within the Sassoon philosophy to create looks that perfectly pair with a client’s face shape, body, lifestyle and individual fashion. He is sure to bring such a great vibe and talent to the Downtown Salon, and I’m confident he will artistically inspire the team and clients alike,” said Martyn Duff, Sassoon East Coast Regional Creative Director.
Now in the Downtown NYC Salon, Michael will continue to build on his previous client work and teaching background, since along with seeing his clientele, he will be leading all in-salon education with his fellow Directors, Regional Creative Director, Martyn Duff and Color Director, Hamid Latif. Michael was a doll. We laughed a ton and he told me how he wants his team to get more involved in the NYC fashion scene.
He also fought me on getting bangs (and won) which was a wise decision. I am loving my new hair cut. What do you think (aside from the fact I look less than thrilled to have my picture taken?)?
Make an appointment with Michael Forrey yourself! I will be going back…obviously!
