Did you ever see so much bad fashion in your life? Welcome to the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards! Not sure what the celebrities were thinkin- maybe they wanted to be casual (no…that’s the People’s Choice Awards), or maybe they wanted to make a statement (MTV VMAs, anyone?) Do the designers think that weirdly placed cut outs are back in style? Maybe. Or maybe, just, maybe they wanted to loosen up before the Oscars in February. Whatever the case, even the usual fashion showstoppers (Julianne Moore, January Jones, AND NICOLE KIDMAN!!) let us down. We’ll look at the good fashion, too…but first, let’s look at the worst dressed fashion of the SAGs.
Worst Dressed
I wonder what it says about the designers when you see the likes of celebrities in designer gowns like Gucci, Armani Prive, and Givenchy that just look bad. Is it the fault of the celebs (or their stylists) for picking these hideous creations or is that the designers suddenly decided they wanted to get all experimental for the red carpet with flashy textures, weird color combinations and strangely placed additions to their ensembles?
Nicole Kidman in Gucci
Does anyone else think Nicole Kidman‘s gown looks painted on?
Julianne Moore in Givenchy
70s disco had a moment at the SAGs this year…so many celebs wore ugly, flashy gowns. Lose the tacky dress, Julianne! It’s hard for me to figure out whether this is her fault or Riccardo Tisci’s…
January Jones in Schiaparelli
Nice concept but too much fabric on January Jones.
Brie Larson in Versace
What with the chain loops holding the dress together and the utilitarian seat belt strap in the back? Did Donatella want the dress to look like it came from an industrial workspace – or a car?
Sarah Paulson in Armani Prive
Again, not something I would expect from Sarah Paulson. And even less of what I would expect from Armani.
Viola Davis in Zac Posen
Ironically, this was probably one of the “better” dresses, and although I like the silhouette, the color is all wrong on Viola Davis and I think she’d be better off wearing this to a high school prom.
Uzo Aduba in Zac Posen
Are we going to Studio 54? The color is nice, but the flashiness of this dress makes it all seem more like a 70s party kind of gown. At least Uzo Aduba won.
Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton
I know some people probably liked this dress. I, however, found it garish and flashy – similar to Uzo Aduba‘s style. Definitely not something you should wear to the Screen Actors Guild awards Alicia Vikander, but thanks for trying!
Eva Longoria in Julien MacDonald
Ugly color and ugly fabric. No Eva Longoria!
Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab
Just because I didn’t like it doesn’t mean you won’t…but yeah…not a winner for me. And too goth.
Priyanka Chopra in Monique Lhuillier
Again, another crowd favorite, but I found it appalling. This looks like an 80’s prom dress.
Lori Petty
And of course, the look everyone was talking about last night. WTF was she thinking?!
Does anyone know what Lori Petty is actually wearing?
Standouts in Bold Winter Colors – Best Dressed
These were the beauties of the SAGs. This goes to show that you don’t always have to experiment to look utterly gorgeous.

Most of these are yuck! With a few exceptions (ahem, Laverne Cox, good work!)

She’s petite and she knows what looks good on her. Still, I feel like I’ve seen this one before…
Julianne Margulies in BerardiLaura Prepon in Carmen Marc Valvo
Still hate your black hair, Laura Prepon, but what a gorgeous look!
Tina Fey in Prabal GurungSophie Turner in Carolina HerreraSaoirse Ronan in Michael KorsHelen Mirren in Jenny Packham
It takes one classy lady to make a dress this flashy look so utterly demure, and Helen Mirren is the one to do it!
