Quiet Luxury Versus Logomania: Which Trend Should You Wear?

Perhaps a more fitting title for this post could be: ‘Succession’ vs. ‘And Just Like That’ because these two shows are the epitome of quiet luxury and logomania! As a personal stylist, I immersed myself in both worlds (binging as a form of research!) and was intrigued by the two distinct fashion trends portrayed.

On the other hand, there’s Carrie Bradshaw who’s all about making bold fashion statements. (With the Bergdorf Goodman bags as the ultimate exclamation point!)

But which style would I confidently recommend to my styling clients, or even embrace for myself?

If you’re equally interested in both trends and want to discover the perfect style that aligns with your individuality, then read on! In this post, I share the main qualities of each trend so you can adopt the style that truly resonates with you.

The Understated Elegance Of Quiet Luxury

Quiet luxury is both timeless and elegant with a focus on quality and craftsmanship. This trend isn’t about showing off or making a statement, but rather about softly exuding sophistication and good taste. It’s a style that is often associated with high-end brands such as Brunello Cucinelli (above), The Row and Loro Piana, which all produce collections of classic staples in neutral color palettes.

Here are some of the key characteristics of quiet luxury:
  • Quality craftsmanship in the finest materials and construction. They are designed to last for years to come.
  • Exquisite fabrics that are often made from luxurious materials such as cashmere, silk and leather.
  • Understated elegance that exudes simplicity and sophistication.
  • Timeless styles designed to never go out of style.
  • Neutral color palette such as black, white, gray and beige. These colors are classic and versatile, and they can be easily mixed and matched.

If you’re looking for a style that is both timeless and elegant, then quiet luxury is for you. (If you’re worried that this trend is too boring, go see this post on ramping up your quiet luxury style here.

Go Big and Bold with Logomania

In contrast to Quiet Luxury, Logomania is all about making a bold statement as audaciously displayed in “And Just Like That” with its designer logos and flashy brands. It exudes a sense of flamboyance and opulence, often incorporating vibrant colors, eye-catching patterns, and attention-grabbing accessories.

Logomania can be traced back to the 1980s, when brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton began to feature their logos on their products. It gained popularity in the early 2000s, and just as all Y-2K aesthetics seem to be making a comeback…so is Logomania!

Here are some of the reasons why people might choose to wear logo-emblazoned clothing:
  • To show off their wealth and status.
  • To express their personal style and taste.
  • To fit in with a certain crowd.
  • To feel confident and powerful.
  • To make a statement about themselves.

Whether you like it or not, Logomania is here to stay. So if you’re thinking about adding some logo-wear to your wardrobe, go for it and wear it with confidence!

Which Trend To Follow?

Now that you have a better understanding of the qualities of Quiet Luxury and Logomania, you can decide which style is right for you. Do you relate more to the qualities of understated elegance or big and bold statements?

Of course, you don’t have to choose just one style. You can mix and match elements from both Quiet Luxury and Logomania to create a look that is uniquely you. Experiment with different styles and trends until you find a look that you feel confident and comfortable in.

Express Yourself with Fashion
