Project Runway Season 10 Episode 5: It's My Way On The Runway. Memorable Quotes From Last Night’s Episode

Tim Gunn with Team 5
On this week’s episode of Project Runway, another team challenge brought out the worst in the remaining designers. The task was for the two teams to each create a women’s wear collection and direct their own photo shoot, and the winning team would get their photos featured in Marie Claire Work.
Tim Gunn with Team 6
From the get-go, choosing teams turned into school children trying to avoid the the weakest link. When all were said for, Raul was the last one to be chosen (Team Six: Sonjia, Alicia, Dmitry, Raul, Elena, Melissa and Team Five: Gunnar, Ven, Christopher, Fabio and Nathan). The teams each received 30 minutes to sketch and consult and were told that everything had to be done by 11 p.m. because the photo shoot would take place the next morning. This news immediately brought on the panic for the designers. The seams began to unravel for Team Six before anything even got started. The idea of teamwork absolutely went out the window with Raul who was busy worrying about getting eliminated again, and the group really couldn’t decide on things together. Not to mention, the tension between Elena and Raul was strong enough to ignite a World War III. Team Five had minimal tension and everyone seemed to work well together with the exception of Gunnar who was kind of left out of the major decision-making. After the teams returned from Mood, things just got worse for Team Six when they realized that a bag was missing – Elena’s bag. We already know how psycho Elena gets during a regular challenge but this just threw her over the edge. Every other word that came out of her mouth was “bleep this,” “bleep that,” “bleep everyone” and that really brought down the mood of the entire group. But let’s not forget that Team Six was blessed with two weak links. Raul, in an effort to save himself again, refused to compromise any of his ideas. This caused a lot of friction among the designers as he was all about himself and his damn ruffles. Team Five also known as the “The Silk Chiffonsies” worked efficiently and did not really run into major issues – except for the fact that Gunnar didn’t really like the direction that his team was going in. However, he managed to keep his mouth shut throughout it all. When the clock struck 11 p.m. the designers called it a night. With the garments finished, you’d think that some of the tension and stress would be gone, but that’s just not how things work on Project Runway. Team Five had a pretty smooth photo shoot. They utilized their props and gave clear direction to the models and photographers. In the end they were able to come away with three photos for the judges. On the other hand, Team Six was a hot mess! From the moment the photo shoot began, Elena was barking orders to everyone which seemed to only piss her team off more. She just clashed with every person that day especially when it came to using props or not using props. By some miracle they were able to survive the shoot and leave with three images for the judges.
Judges Joanna Coles, Nina Garcia, Michael Kors and Heidi Klum
But the competition was far from over, the two teams still had to display their collections on the runway. After seeing the two collections, the scores of both teams resulted in a tie, so this was anyone’s challenge to win. According to the judges, featuring Marie Claire editor-in-chief, Joanna Coles, Team Five did a great job at keeping the theme. The worst outfit went to Gunnar, whose top made his model’s boobs look like a fallen soufflé. When Heidi asked the team who should go home, Fabio completely avoided the question but Christopher, Ven and Nathan voted Gunnar off the island – or rather, the runway. The looks from Team Six were modern and cohesive with touches of power. But Raul’s pieces once again weren’t up to par. When the team had to choose who should go home both Raul and Elena’s names came up. With regards to Team Five, things ran as smoothly as they could for a Project Runway challenge, but it was the tension, swearing and bitch fits of Team Six that somehow allowed them to create a more appealing collection for the judges. They were awarded the spread in Marie Claire Work. The friction and pressure in Team Six just seemed to produce more diamonds as Melissa was crowned the winner of the challenge for her powerful eye-catching dress.  However, it was Gunnar and Raul who were sent to the chopping block. And this time, lightning really did strike twice because Raul was sent packing AGAIN, and Gunnar was able to survive another round. Before Raul departed for the second time, he had a few final words. “Uhm, I hate your ass,” came out of his mouth as he stared at Elena and by her response the feeling was mutual. Well Raul, hate her all you want but you’re the one leaving for the second time while she has one less person standing in her way.
Melissa, “You are the winner of this challenge!”
Raul, “You are out!”
