Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring ’13: Charlotte Ronson Brings the Ocean Waves to NYC

Summary: If there’s one thing you can do before spring ’13 arrives next year, it’s get a good set of abs! Charlotte Ronson debuted her ocean-inspired collection the second day of Fashion Week. Up above the crowd, twin sister Samantha Ronson manned the DJ stand as the star-packed (Rachel Zoe, Paris Hilton, Kimora Lee Simmons, just to name a few) audience excitedly waited. Charlotte began her show with pieces in soft shades of yellow, which represented the sun rising over the waters. Floral print pieces in sea foam green and various blues quickly followed. Charlotte wasn’t all about the flirty, feminine style. Edgy, all-leather ensembles, such as a crop bra and high-waisted skirt combo, rounded out the collection quite nicely. As for accessories, pay close attention: these models were gripping their oversized totes like clutches. This may be a trend come spring!
Charlotte wasn’t afraid to experiment with unconventional fabrics either. Transparent, plastic raincoats in shamrock green, and yes, clear topped flirty skirt combos. Charlotte also added sheer overlays and fishnet details, no doubt representing the fishermen’s tools at sea. As for the silhouette, Charlotte must have been flipping through some 90’s magazines, because her pieces were a throwback to the midriff-baring era of Britney Spears vs. Christina Aguilera. Yes, not since the pop craze phenomenon of boy bands and bleach blonde dancing divas were so many toned, fit abs collected in one location. So, while we are obsessed with Charlotte Ronson’s nautical collection, it’s clear that a girl has to get a set of killer abs (or Spanx!) before taking these pieces home.
