Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring ’13: Backstage Beauty At Chado Ralph Rucci

Backstage at Chado Ralph Rucci a dramatic eye look was created by Tom Pecheux of MAC. Azelia blush applied as eyeliner created an eye that was eery up close but at a short distance the models’ eyes totally popped. The lips and cheeks were natural as all attention was on the eyes for this runway show.

The hairstyle for the show was created by Lead Stylist Laurent Philippon of Bumble and Bumble. I was told at Chado Ralph Rucci the hair is always off the face, but this time Philippon created an organic shape at the nape of the neck, using B.b Gel and super reflective lacquer shine. To achieve this shape, the models hair was ponytailed, braided, rolled and pinned under. Then the stylists used macrame bands to shape the hair and plenty of spray lacquer until it set. Laurent Philippon told me he was “inspired by sculptor Amish Kapoor to get this this molded hair look.”
