It’s official! MAC makeup has named the celebs who will be fronting the 2012 Viva Glam campaign in February, New York Magazine reported. The most recent duo of covergirls for the line of lip products, Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper, made huge strides in raising awareness for the campaign’s crucial cause, the fight against AIDS and HIV.
Now the torch has been passed to none other than pop stars Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin. Minaj’s quirky and outlandish style and Martin’s status as a strong gay role model in the entertainment world make them a perfect pair to keep the campaign’s momentum going. The new images are reportedly being shot today in Miami by David LaChapelle. Martin is only the campaign’s third male spokesperson after Elton John in 2001 and Boy George in 2004. MAC donates 100 percent of the proceeds from Viva Glam lip products toward AIDS and HIV-related charities.
