We love a good black leather jacket or pair of boots, or even a leather pencil skirt when we’re feeling daring. However, we do have tons of black pieces (and we’re confident that we’re not alone there. Sometimes it’s a great idea to switch things up for a brown, tan, maroon, or even navy or deep green. We’re loving colored leather this season.
A new color palette can make you feel like a whole new person. Plus, black worn close to the face can feel a bit harsh—especially for those of us over 50.

Here are some of our favorite leather pieces for winter 2026 (that come in colors other than black):

Trench Coats
A classic trench done in a rich caramel-hued leather is a brilliant way to change things up. It’s ideal on days that might not require a full-on parka or a great piece to pull out for occasions when a puffy coat doesn’t feel right. We love this option from Avec Les Filles that would look great layered over sweaters and boots right now, or over lighter dresses and skirts in warmer temps.

Pencil Skirts
Leather pencil skirts can be a lot of look, but they can be done in an interesting, elegant, and creative way, especially if the color or texture (or both) is a bit unexpected. For instance, this plum stamped leather pencil skirt from Tuckernuck is the perfect winter jewel tone that would look amazing mixed with ivory, navy, chocolate brown, various tones of gray, or black.

Full Skirts
If pencil skirts aren’t your thing, try something with a bit more volume, like this French Connection midi skirt in bordeaux. Like the option above, this would be beautiful with navy, cream, black, brown, or any shade of gray.

Wide Leg Pants
Pants with some extra flow have been on trend for a minute now, so why try the look in leather? Done in deep cocoa brown, it’s a luxe but edgy look and perfect with black or any other shade of brown for a monochromatic-ish outfit. This pair from Bardot is a rarity—they’re the perfect length to wear with both heels (to showcase the shoe) or flats for a more casual feeling.

Moto Jackets
Love your black leather biker or moto style leather jacket? Try it in a different color, like a dark brown or a deep navy like this one from NIC + ZOE. It’s just a little softer and perhaps more flattering, but has the same attitude as your tried and true favorite.

Wide Belts
There’s nothing like a waist-cinching belt to create an hourglass figure. A soft taupe leather and suede option like this one from Reiss is versatile enough to wear all year round. Wear it over sweater dresses and other knits now, and use it to anchor flowy midi dresses and maxis come spring and summer.

Long Gloves
If you’re dealing with snow and ice, you need to wear gloves. So why not make them a little luxurious and super chic, like these blue-violet elbow length cashmere lined gloves from Portolano? They also make an excellent gift for the chic-in-any-weather-conditions woman in your life.
