"I was completely broke," she explains about her fashion sense when she first started out in the music business. "I used to borrow outfits, get my makeup done at makeup counters, and then sneak into events. It was cool! I seemed to be wearing things right." But since hitting the big time, Perry says she's trying to step her game up. "I’ve gone from Betty Boop to more Bettie Page. It’s less cute and more meow."
I'm not sure about "Bettie Page" but there's something going on here. Maybe it's the big gold jewelry or almost black hair clashing against pale skin, but something in this picture is just.. off. Maybe it's too much sophistication for me.
