Prince William and Middleton truly had a purpose.  To bring love and hope to the world through celebration.  As one priest put it during the ceremony, “In a sense, every wedding is a royal wedding,” he said, “It’s the joining of two people to make a life together so life can flow through them in the future.”

But let’s get to the important details. Like that gorgeous dress! Kate Middleton truly knows what she’s doing as a fashionista.  It was her decision to do her own makeup, though many a professional makeup artist offered to do her face for the big day.  And while no word on how Middleton picked her dress, we do know one thing—it’s a stunner!! In what’s either the best or worst kept secret in the entire world, Kate Middleton has chosen Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.  And we know for sure the late McQueen is looking down on her with pride.

Last night, Burton was spotted running into the Goring Hotel where Kate was staying, but until today, no one knew for sure who officially designed her dress.  Many speculated vintage McQueen. And it was McQueen–the custom-made Sarah Burton kind.  The Royal School of Needlework based out of Hampton Court Palace crafted the intricate lace bodice and sleeves. The dress itself is made from silk gazar. Her veil gave the entire look a vintage 20s feel. The seemingly endless train was 70cm long. That McQueen signature corseting, the long sleeves, and the lace–surely to becoming forthcoming trends in the coming year.

Kate’s tiara is a Cartier “halo” tiara worn previously by the Queen Mother.  Her diamond oak-leaf earrings are Robinson Pelham and a gift from her parents.

Kate reminded me of a brunette Grace Kelly and the entire wedding ceremony went off without a hitch—something out of an Old Hollywood technicolor 1950s production from MGM.  It was truly a historical moment and I’m glad I got to watch!
