Bundling up for the freezing cold weather may not seem like a very fashionable proposition. However, you can look chic in the winter even wearing a sensibly warm puffer jacket. Luckily, the lines have become blurred between sporty and dressy, and utilitarian and luxe. This makes styling for the winter a lot more appealing! I put together this stylish winter outfit with high-end pieces (on the left) and found their lower priced look-alikes (on the right). You can invest in all high-end luxury pieces, or you can style a very similar look for less. You can also can pick and choose a few luxury pieces and mix them with the lower priced fashion options, which is how to achieve high low styling. Here’s how to look chic in a puffer jacket high and low plus styling tips.
How To Wear A Puffer Jacket
I was inspired by this look on Net-a-Porter for my puffer jacket high low look. They mixed classic camel trousers and a turtleneck with a black coated puffer jacket. I took my outfit a few steps warmer and sportier and paired my puffer with wool pants, a fuzzy sweater and black hiking style boots. Then I brightened up the look with a with a cream and black color blocked bag with a (very practical) zipper. You don’t want anything to fall out of your handbag while you’re out braving cold! This casual chic look is comfortable, appropriate for work or play, and will get you through the winter in style.

Puffer Jacket Styling Tips
1. Wear a black puffer jacket with everything. Throw it on the same way you would a leather moto-jacket. The puffer jacket works well in contrast to woven fabrics like our wool pants and sweater, or denim jeans and button down shirts. Try plaid, checks, tweed and other menswear fabrics with your puffer jacket. A pleated midi skirt with tall boots, or a even a long floral velvet dress would work as other options.
2. Avoid the expected. To style a puffer jacket for 2020, I would avoid wearing tech fabric pants or shiny leggings, unless you are going skiing of course! The new way to wear the puffer is to mix it with your everyday apparel. Go for the unexpected!
3. Get the proportions right. The puffer jacket is going to be puffy, so don’t fight it. Let the look be oversized! Yes you can find puffer jackets that are belted and they are flattering, but I think a boxier style like the one I am showing here is the easiest to style. Since it is hip length, to get the proportions right, wear long pants, or midi skirts or dresses to balance the puffer jacket.

It doesn’t get cold enough for me to wear a puffer coat but I love the looks.
I wish it did not get cold enough here to need puffer jackets. I’m glad you like them!
