Recently I became obsessed with matching sets, particularly with pants. So when I found this Who What Wear blue floral shirt and joggers set at Target, I immediately envisioned how may different ways I could wear it. Here’s how to style a matching set for women over 40.
How To Style a Matching Set
Yes, I knew I could wear the 2 pieces as separates, ie. the top with jeans or a white pants, and the joggers with a black t-shirt or tank. But I also thought I could wear the entire set together many different ways and for various occasions. And I was right! Here are three very different ways to style this matching set, and as you can imagine, there will be many more.

The Matching Top and Joggers Set
I was attracted to the gorgeous print on this matching Who What Wear set from Target. Yes it is bold, but the colors are amazing. The vivid blues are among my favorites, and the black and white elements make it a no-brainer for matching with other pieces. But the beautiful raisin-brown color gives it a luxurious look and even more options because it will work with browns and natural colors too. These joggers are fabulous because they have a flat front waistband, stitched front seams to add crispness and pockets! I found a button-down version of this top in the store, but you can get this blouse version as well as the joggers online.
Did I hesitate because the print is so bold and wondered how would it look on a woman over 40? I did for a moment, but I thought it was worth a try! I’m glad I picked it up, because after styling a few looks, this set is a keeper. And did I mention this outfit is on clearance? Well that makes it even more appealing.

Look 1: Matching Set For Chilly Days
It’s still cold outside where I live, and this matching makes a perfect base to bundle up! An easy way to style this set is to belt it with a utilitarian black belt and combat boots. Toss a faux fur coat over it and you can brave the chilly weather in style. Any color coat will work. Don’t worry too much about a perfect match when it comes to floral prints. My coat is dark forest green and even though there is not one bit of that color in the print, it still works. Other colors like berry, burgundy, or brown would look great too.
Apparis Stella Coat Verdant Green, $395 (or this Tobacoo color would look amazing)
Dr. Martens 1460 Pascal Bex Combat Boots, $160
ASOS DESIGN Slim Webbing Belt with Plate Buckle Detail, $9
Look 2: Sporty Style Matching Set
Another look is to dress it down and go sporty! Here I’m wearing the top out, or you can do a French tuck (tucking the shirt in at the very front while leaving the back loose and untucked at the sides) for a more laid back look. Toss a bold blue sweater over your shoulders and slip on some sneakers and you are ready to run around all day long.

Adidas Womens Superstar Shoes, $95
Look 3: Matching Set All Dressed Up
This last look is a perfectly comfy outfit for dinner, cocktails or a party. All you need to add is a black oversized menswear jacket, black heel pumps and a piece of statement jewelry. I chose a silver multi-link necklace. This look is easy to wear and uncomplicated. You don’t need to add much with a bold floral print like this one!
H&M Single-breasted Jacket, $34.99
Guess Heartbreaker Leather d’Orsay Pump, $168
Multi Row Layered Chain Linked Necklace – A New Day™, $16.99
Other ways to style this set is with a black, brown, tan or cream leather jacket, a denim jean jacket, or even under a grey fleece hoodie jacket for a casual look. As for shoes; flat slides, mules, mid-heel booties and strappy sandals will work with the joggers too. This set is really very versatile. It would be perfect to bring on vacation and wear the pieces as separates, too.
Which of my three looks is your favorite? How would you wear this matching set?

I have never understood dressing camo up with heels.
I love the juxtaposition. The yin and yang.
Like the concept but the outfit???
It’s not for everyone.
