Home Decor For The Holidays and All Year

We’re home for the holidays (this year more than ever!). So why not make your home festive? I am always a fan of holiday home items that don’t scream “holidays” and can be used all year long. (Maybe I’m lazy and hate to put things away). So I found some fabulous home decor for the holidays (sans Santas, reindeer, Christmas trees and sorry, even snowflakes) to make your days merry and bright. These items are perfect for gift-giving too since many are under $20. You can also feel good about giving something you know will be useful not only now but in the months and perhaps the whole year ahead.

Sparkly Holiday Neutrals

The best holiday home items to look for to use all year round are metallics or sparkly neutrals. Gold is my personal favorite but silver, gunmetal and rose gold home accents blend with any holiday decor (including snowmen and The Grinch). For example, Target offers this sparkly gold metallic glass candleholder or this gold stainless steel cocktail shaker. Both are festive and bright but can be used all year long.

Bright White With Metallic

Nothing is as clean as the fresh-diven snow than bright white with metallic. This combination works with accents in your home all year long. Cover your throw pillows with these sparkling metallic covers from Amazon. I adore the white with metallics and they come in an amazing range of alternate colors that will work, too. For a stunning holiday table, display these Stolzle Lausitz glass tumblers. They would look gorgeous grouped together for the holidays, but you can enjoy the clean bright white just as well this summer.

Holiday Solid Colors

Choose items for your holiday home in seasonal solid colors. Pick a color you love! This Forest Green plush throw will work with any decor all year long. Or take look at the Burgundy, Teal or Ivory as alternate color throws you can cozy up with for the holidays and for the entire winter.

While you are getting cozy in front of the fireplace (or TV) treat yourself to hot chocolate or hot Toddies in classic Fiesta Mugs. Get a set in red, green or white, or mix up the colors so everyone in the family can have their own personal holiday (and beyond) mug.

This Smeg Red Retro Electric Kettle may be a little pricey but it is something you will love and cherish forever. It comes in other colors but the bright red is a fantastic accent color. You will remember you got it for Christmas, but you won’t think you should  ever put it away.

Find scented candles in colors besides red or green. This blue mercury glass candle with a cozy cabin scent can be used all winter … and maybe longer!

Farmhouse Holiday Decor

Welcome your delivery people, social distance guests and yourself with this cheery home with the heart doormat as a reminder of how much you love your home. The red heart will work will holiday decor now but it certainly can be used year-round.

Next time you look for holiday items for your home, look for neutral colors, bold solids, metallics or sparkles that you can display and use year round. Not only will you save money, but you can continue to have a little holiday cheer throughout the year.

  1. I have used almost everything I brought from the California house. I do whittle away as some decorations just don’t work any more. I have fresh greens on my porch, my favorite of the season.
