While we love a little bit of nostalgia and vintage inspired fashion, sometimes we’d rather look ahead. And with plenty of futuristic looks inspired by technology, space, and all the silver, chrome and other metallics you could hope for arriving in stores just in time for 2025, now is the time to do just that.
What’s more, if you want to add a little shine for the holiday season but don’t love the more traditional festive styles? Try looking ahead with a little cosmic twist for something that looks and feels just as special, but is a little less classic.

Here are some of our favorite ways to do futuristic fashion as we approach the new year.
Chrome Nails
One of the easiest ways to add a touch of high-tech glamor to your look is to choose a silvery chrome nail shade, like one of OPI’s CosMIC drop collection shades.
Metallic Pants
Silver pants like these EDIKTED jeans at Nordstrom are a whole lot of look, but they can be fun for the holidays if you prefer a more contemporary take on the typical sparkly or sequined pieces. We love silver with white, ivory, and pretty much all shades of blue and purple for an icy futuristic feeling.
Space Age Boots
A pair of oxidized silver or chrome booties might be the perfect way to add a pop of something different to a basic outfit, especially if you go for monochrome black, white, ivory, or gray. We’re fans of these chunky-heeled Coach ankle boots for something more practical and ready for action, or these pale silver leather kitten-heel J.Crew booties for a daintier look.
Futuristic Looks: Sculptural Handbags
You probably already know that a metallic handbag can be surprisingly versatile, but have you considered that it can be an art piece as well? This mirrored silver bag from GSYPS on Amazon is fun, futuristic, and could double as a modern art piece. Besides, it’s a steal for under $50.
High Tech Outerwear
It might not keep you warmer than a non-metallic parka, but a silver or space blue puffer certainly looks like it. It’s also a great way to switch things up from your basic black or navy coat, and you might discover that these chromatic shades are surprisingly neutral and easy to mix with your current wardrobe. We like this packable puffer jacket in ice grey from Free People or this water resistant puffer in gleaming blue by S13.
Ultra-Modern Jewelry
We can’t forget the many future-forward jewelry options. While Etsy is a treasure trove of all things chrome and cosmos-inspired, we also like this SOKO drip choker that’s vaguely Dali-esque or this striking hand shield bracelet from Babaloo jewelry. Think big, bold and highly reflective and you get the idea!
