Oh, Those Summer (Date) Nights!

Whether it’s a first or last day, summer is the best time for having a proper date night. You want to look both effortless and chic without constantly thinking your hair is in frizz-mode and your makeup is melting off.

The easiest thing to toss on is something light and breezy. And it just so happens, that the off-the-shoulder look is very big right now. The trend looks best when worn in a chambray or a light denim fabric. It’s even an easy enough style that you can wear it to work, take off the sweater after 5 pm, and head right out for dinner and cocktails.

After dinner is all done, you might want to think about what you’re wearing underneath (yes, I’m talking about lingerie). Nothing too crazy but the best policy is you’ll always have a little more fun when you know your top and bottoms both match.

As for your makeup, the least amount you can put on, the better. You can’t count on the air-conditioning working all the time or avoiding the patio at all costs. A bright colored lipstick is always adorable in any season. It draws attention to your lips, and makes you look more pulled together, even if you’re not wearing anything else.

During the summer you can pick any place to eat but what could be better than having drinks on one of the best rooftops of the city? Both New York and Chicago have outside bars with incomparable views. I might be able to guess the new spot in NYC, but I can tell you that Chicago’s newly-open LondonHouse hotel is amazing. Oh and if you plan on making this date a last formal date between you two, there’s even a special area just for proposals.

So get out there before the weather changes!
