Zac and Susan Posen
It seems to be the season of change these days at Zac Posen. The designer's mother and longtime business partner, Susan Posen, has decided to step down from her post in the company. Susan Posen had recently taken on he role of ceo at her son's label, but now she's relieving herself in favor of discovering new goals.
“It has been nearly 10 years since Zac, Alexandra and I founded Zac Posen,” Susan Posen told WWD yesterday. “During that time I have had the privilege to work — both within the company itself and in the larger fashion arena — with an amazing group of people. The company is now poised for a new phase of growth, and I have decided it is time to step aside from my current role as acting ceo and pursue other interests,” adding that she will remain as chair of the board of the company.
Reportedly, Posen's parent company, Yucaipa, was getting more and more impatient with the lack of return on its Zac Posen investment and was looking for a change. Posen chose to show his main collection in Paris and his secondary Z-Spoke line in New York this past season, but has always generated plenty of media buzz with his artful designs. Now, despite Susan stepping down, there do not seem to be plans to change the company or the design in any way (whew!) Posen's replacement will be current ceo of Scoop New York, Susan Davidson, who will now srve as Zac Posen's ceo as well. The choice is one that Susan Posen said to be "pleased" with.
