The red brick facade of the Grand Avenue building belied the sleek, pristine space of The Don Julio Loft's interior. Inside, the music swirled to the beat of artists painting, tequila pouring and light bouncing off custom-made designs by the Chicago Fashion Incubators at Macy's. The grand opening and media preview for the The Don Julio Loft kicked off the three day lifespan of the West Town space, gearing up for the official party tomorrow, Friday July 9. Don Julio, CS magazine and the Chicago Fashion Incubator proved to be an impressive trifecta with all the decadent treats the party had to offer.

On the main floor, pieces by the Macy's Incubator 2010 designers stood on display, each inspired by a different Don Julio brand. Chef TIm Hockett of Nacional 27 and Chef Dirk Flanigan of the Gage made demonstrations of delectable bite-sized eats and Event Creative and the Entertaining Company doled out hors d'oeuvres and refreshing tequila cocktails in bright yellows and pinks.
On the second level, the creative juices were flowing as artist Joshua Thissel of Edge Gallery showed off his techniques of painting glass. The boys from popular Ukie Village boutique Black Market Caviar handed out freshly screen-printed t-shirts while their resident artist, Ricky, worked on vibrant abstract paintings. All the while, the ladies from Money Penny DJs spun tunes that pulsated throughout the airy space. It was, to say the least, a very cool event in the midst of a very hot summer evening.
