Tuesday night was the premiere of the Chicago Fashion Incubator 2010 Designers In Residence as well as the opening of the Chicago Fashion Incubator Pop Uo Store on the 5th Floor of The 900 Shops at 900 N. Michigan Avenue. Many came out to support the first two classes of CFI designers, as well as the six new designers chosen for the third year of the program.

The designers will be given the opportunity to learn the economics, marketing and merchandising of fashion from industry experts as well as mentors from Macy’s and the broader fashion community. We were happy to meet the new women's fashion designers.

 Leah_Fagan
Leah Fagan: Fagan's PELOTON line features a easy, comfortable performance separates able to transform from casual to formal. Using her hectic daily experiences from Columbia College, she used that as inspiration to create these everyday pieces.

 Stephanie_Kuhr
Stephanie Kuhr: Dottie's Designs is a lingerie line that is so versatile, it can be worn under clothes or as a standout piece. Her look is inspired by the old Burlesque girl.

 Christina_Fan

Christina Fan: Ms. Fan created C/Fan, a mix between tailored inspired details and feminine qualities.

 Miriam_Celcilia_CArlson
Miriam Cecilia Carlson: M.C.C. created designs draped and manipulated fabrics, inspired by the beauty and calmness of nature, as well as the hustle and bustle of the city.

Menswear designers:

Donaldo Smith – Killian Gui is a contemporary menswear brand that masters the blend of elegant business attire with modern casual wear.

Jonnie Rettele – Nonnie Threads is a result of early-mid 1900's inspiration, merged with a modern semblance.

Don't miss the 2010 New Designer Trunk Show this Saturday, March  20th, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Meet the designers, place custom orders and wear custom pieces!

Many designers from the last few CFI classes were also there to represent their collections which are available for sale in the Pop Up Shop. They all have gained considerable recognition in the last few years. The Pop-Up Shop on the fifth level of The 900 Shops located at 900 N. Michigan Ave. will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each Thursday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Don't miss the special trunk shows and presentations!
