Despite brisk temperatures in the city, The Signature Room at the top of the John Hancock building was heating up last night. Stylist, entrepreneur, and fashion designer Indashio chose the lofty, dazzling space overlooking downtown Chicago to showcase his "Jet-Set" collection. The collection, which debuted during New York Fashion week this past September, was inspired by the designer's recent travels to Antigua, Africa, Europe, and the Pacific.
His muse clearly came through in the collection as many of the pieces seemed designed with a beachside resort in mind. Bold, animal prints and bright, punchy colors splashed across minidresses and tunics for women while low-slung jeans and patterned board shorts outfitted the men. The pieces ranged from sturdy and embellished, with sequins and dripping chains, to light and filmy, in colors reminiscent of the ocean, sand, and sky. The style of the collection was an interesting juxtaposition of fantasy islandwear and an urban, streetwear chic. The fun and carefree attitude ingrained in "Jet-Set" collection was further emphasized with accessories from designer Sandy Reuve with SheBeads, and makeup by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, including Indashio's own cosmetic venture, Indashio Lip Tar.
The vibe of the party was as fun and youthful as the designs that glistened down the Signature Room runway. After the show, Indashio himself seemed truly humbled and grateful to all the Chicago style makers, including music legend George Daniels, that came out to support him in his latest endeavor.
