Fashion Group International, Inc. held The 6th Annual Rising Star Awards in Chicago on September 16th. The posh event was held at the James Hotel and was sponsored by Bebe, Chicago Magazine and 360 Vodka. The Rising Star Awards honor the vision and sense of purpose of designers of apparel, accessories, beauty, interiors, public relations and retail. Candidates are nominated for their innovation, creativity and accomplishments. This event focused on "what's next, what's happening and who will change the set style and lead the way in design."
Rising Star for Accessories – Lisa Kingsley of Kingsley Handbags

Lisa Kingsley from Kingsley Handbags won in the Accessories category, her leather handbags are handcrafted and show an independent thought in each design. When accepting her award Lisa told the audience that in each Kingsley Handbag there is a note inside stating their mission – "our philosophy is in every package" and she hopes to "nourish the people we work with (through her designs)."
Rising Star for Apparel – Abigail Glaum-Lathbury
Abigail Glaum-Lathbury won the Rising Star Award for Apparel. Abigail launched her line in 2005, her clothes are known for their lines, construction and movement, and sometimes invoke the otherworld. You can find her line at p.45 in Bucktown.
