Professional hair stylist and owner of Atria Hair Studio in Atlanta, GA, Stephanie Bates, offers sound advice for protecting hair and getting the most out of your style.

Drink Up!
“It’s imperative to drink a minimum of eight glasses of water a day. I know it seems minuscule, however, your scalp needs this to aid in the production of natural oils.”

Find Products Suitable for your Hair Type.
“Everyone is different. So no one product can be everything to everybody. It’s a matter of trial and error. I recommend you keep your receipts.”

Nix The Hot Showers.
“Try not to take extremely long and hot showers. The moisture will surely undo a great style or blow dry. If this is something you can’t budge on, I recommend wearing a shower cap that keeps the humidity out.”
