Are you looking forward to spending more time outdoors? Then why not take a look at new patio furniture and think about a set-up that suits your lifestyle. Your outdoor space may range from a small urban balcony to a medium sized patio to a huge backyard deck and pool. But no matter how much space you have to work with, there are plenty of options. You may already have an acceptable setup, but there are simple ways to update your existing patio furniture this summer, even with just a few new pieces, like pillows and planters.
Best Patio Furniture For Outdoor Living
We are replacing our backyard deck this summer and I am starting to compile my wish list of all new patio furniture. The deck stain is natural cedar, so the furniture can be in darker hues. I am envisioning a neutral pallet with cream shades and pops of bold colors.

Outdoor Conversation Set
You should always consider how you will use your patio and one thing I think is important is to have a cozy and comfortable space to sit when entertaining guests. It’s also necessary to have furniture that can be used anytime to relax and enjoy the warm weather and fresh air. This Modway Convene 7 piece outdoor patio sectional set from Target has armrests and cushions which is a must-have on my list. I appreciate the clean lines and how you can use the ottomans to lounge or to move around for additional seating.
Portable Fire Pit Table
When we were planning the backyard renovation we considered adding an area of paver with a fire pit, but then wondered how often we would actually use it. So now I am looking into something portable like this Plateau Rectangle Fire Table from Crate & Barrel. It would create a wonderful ambiance and warmth on cool nights and extend our use of the patio furniture into the fall. I will be on the lookout for something very similar and less expensive like this fire pit table from Wayfair, but the one from Crate & Barrel is gorgeous and on my wish list.
Patio Table and Chairs
We also need a place to eat outdoors! I think I’d like an oblong table with the option of adding a sun umbrella. Again, I prefer comfortable seating and this AllModern Temples Rectangular 6 – Person Dining Set from Wayfair is perfect. Target has a slew of umbrellas in neutral or bright colors to choose from. If you don’t have a table you can opt from one of their floor stand umbrellas and move it around on your patio as the sun changes direction.
I’m amazed at how resin planters can look like real ceramic. They are lighter than ceramic and really inexpensive too. I can bring florals and greenery right onto the deck in these 15” honeysuckle planters from Amazon. I am crazy about the neutral textured colors or may opt for a pop of color like this red hot one in Ember. You can literally choose from a dozen colors!
Outdoor Throw Pillows
As I mentioned I’m all about comfort with my vision of our patio furniture. Since I am going with neutral colors and solids I can add pattern and texture with throw pillows. This will be the finishing touch. Target offer some excellent options like these black and white Stripe Outdoor Throw Pillows from Project 62™ that come in a 2 pack or this citrus yellow Fishnet Pleat Indoor/Outdoor Throw Pillow from Edie@Home.
We will have built in lighting on our deck but I think this Grand Patio outdoor solar powered resin wicker floor lamp is sleek-looking as an accent piece and it’s functional as well. When the sun goes down it will still be shining!
