Easy Fall Decorating Ideas From A Pro

As much as you may hate to think about it, summer is very short lived and the inevitable is about to happen. Fortunately the inevitable is fall! In my lifetime of polling friends and family, fall is most people’s favorite season. Since we were young children there is a great excitement about fall. It is the beginning of a new year more than New Years Day because fall marks the start of the school calendar. The new school year brings with it the need for fresh school supplies and new uniforms or school clothes. This has contributed to the craving to shop for the fall season whenever the summer heat starts to fade and this holds true for updating your home. Here are some of the best fall decorating ideas for your home that are easy to do.

Easy Fall Decorating Ideas

The thrill of cashmere filling the shops is almost too much to bear. How we have missed that lush softness. Plaids start to look cute again after months of searching for more white linen items to add to your collection. Is there ever enough white linen and light weight cotton during those steamy summer days and nights? Well, the time has come when the nights start getting cooler and breezes blowing through the leafy trees have become more frequent. A change is in the air and houndstooth and furry trims are back on the menu. To help satisfy your cravings we have put together some easy fall decorating ideas to start thinking about the cooler days to come.

Autumn Prints

Take down the seascape on your wall and replace it with an autumn tree line. There are so many web sites and stores now offering affordable prints that it is a simple change to make. It does not have to be a typical fall or winter theme, but something in more subdued hues will gently lead you into the season. Make it personal by blowing up photos you have taken yourself and have them printed on canvas, or aluminum to make them a bit more edgy.

Textured Bedding, Pillows & Throws

Up your bedding game with layers in various textures and colors. Whether you choose jewel tones or warm neutrals, piles of pillows and throws will keep you cozy when the shorter days send you to to your room with a good book earlier and earlier.

Large Scale Plaid

Traditional fabric patterns are being altered these days to include a more modern flair and fit in better with contemporary furnishings. In fun colors and a larger scale, plaid is back in style right now in everything from home furnishings to fashion. It’s not just for school uniforms anymore. Try this lambswool plaid pillow cover from Williams Sonoma.

Fur Accents For Fall

Fine or faux, fur has always be fashionable in one form or another, such as rugs, pillows, blankets or ottomans. Leather will also add a warmth and richness to a space and can be applied to every aspect of home design. You can add one element like this textured leather Reed & Barton picture frame.

Fall Leaves & Florals

Substituting your summery flowers for a great bunch of turning leaves or an arrangement with some darker berries will instantly take you into the next season. Wreathes and garland are a fun way to bring in plants that don’t need to be changed weekly. We found this gorgeous dried herb wreath that works in almost any color scheme.

  1. I love all things Fall except here in SC it’s just late summer. I miss living in KY where there are actually 4 seasons. The fall colors are always so warm & gorgeous.
