Late last week Alia and I attended a Dermalogica event at their SoHo store where we met the brand’s Director of Global Education, Annet King and had our faces “mapped.” They also introduced us to a new product soon to be released, but I have been sworn to secrecy for now. Anyway, the thought of someone analyzing my skin scares me, because I know I was an ass and worshiped the sun for way too long in my youth and really don’t like to be scorned. Luckily that didn’t happen here. Apparently my dedication to sunblock the last 10 years has paid off. Anyway, Jill analyzed the twelve zones of my face and determined my customized skin health prescription.
Surprise, surprise…I’m aging and my skin shows some (OK, a lot of) signs. So their AGE Smart solutions were mostly the products best suited for me. Now, I have tried various Dermalogica products over the years (most recently one of my favorites, their MultiVitamin Power Serum), but I have never done a complete and total Dermalogica day and night regimen. Yet, when 8 products were recommended for me, I thought, what do I have to lose?
So there I sat with my products on my coffee table trying to figure out which product I used when and in what order. Yet, I was excited to get started that evening. Well can I tell you within just 24 hours I saw a huge improvement in my skin? It is really smooth, but not greasy and looks significantly more radiant. You know something’s up when you start getting compliments! Now it has only been 5 days, but I can’t see myself going back. In fact, I just purged a bunch of my skincare products because I know I will not be using them again.
This is great news for me right before heading into Fashion Week, but now I am scared to start testing products for our annual Beauty Olympics that starts right after the conclusion of Fashion Week. It’s always hard on my skin and now I really don’t want to do it, but I must in the name of beauty I suppose. At any rate, I truly can not say enough about Dermalogica and what it has already done for my skin in such a short amount of time. It is quite amazing. That said, if you have not yet tried Dermalogica products or had only used one here and there, you might want to get your face mapped. They obviously know what they are talking about. Now I just need travel sized products because I don’t see myself going anywhere now without them!
