Summary: For Rita Vinieris’ debut evening wear collection, she looked at Louis Kahn for inspiration. Kahn’s work defined Modernism in the 20th Century, and his signature structure can be spotted in the silhouettes of Vinieris’ cocktail dresses and gowns. “I truly wanted to dress women at night in a way that’s relevant for today,” said Vinieris. Combining traditional evening cuts with modern details such as mother of pearl embroidery, draping backs, and hand beaded fabrics, the designer gives us a collection of evening wear fit for a red carpet gala. Minimalism is key in this collection. While we are drawn to the simplicity of the gowns and dresses, a close up inspection would show surprising additions such as spiked beads, a billowing bias cut skirt, and spectacular detailing in the sequin embroidery. The romantic collection of frocks is best for reigniting old Hollywood glamour for a night on the town, or at a corporate affair. No matter the event, these dresses were made to be on the belle of the ball.
