I have a confession to make. I am completely guilty of maintaining an overly-crowded cosmetic bag full of used up, and dried out lip glosses and eye liners. When Mario Tricoci Hair Salon and Day Spas announced their "Do This, Not That" makeup bag makeover project, I was thrilled! This staple cosmetic theme encourages women to revamp their makeup bags by simply tossing out old mascaras, concealers, or any other products that haven't been used in a minimal of two months. Additional rules to trail include, tossing out products that are one year and older, duplicates of the same cosmetics, and the unusable; you know, that ice blue eye shadow that dates back to circa 1975? In a recent press release, Cheryl Santucci, director for Mario Tricoci Hair Salons and Day Spas noted that a woman’s cosmetic bag should be simplified and non-cluttered. "You really just need a combination of practical everyday basics and versatile makeup items that can change your look from day to evening." She also recommends rebuilding your bag by sorting out your cosmetics to create three different beauty kits. The ‘complete kit’ will contain ALL of your beauty items, while the 'emergency kit' will contain "I-only-have-five-minutes-to-put-my-face-on" essentials. Finally, the ‘touch up kit' includes a lip gloss, mascara, and blush for the extremely busy beauty addict. Let's hear it, beauties! How many makeup bags do you have, and how often are you cleaning them out? Let’s just say that I have more than three – and will be taking heed of this advice ASAP! – Nicole L. I have one, but just realized it’s filled mostly with things I don’t regularly use, but want on hand ‘just in case.’ I only empty it when it’s too full to zip. I found some band-aids that are unusable. Gross.
