Angela Missoni visited Neiman Marcus Michigan Avenue last week in celebration of her 20th anniversary as creative director for Missoni. As granddaughter of the founders of the iconic Italian fashion knitwear brand, Angela has kept the brand fresh and ever changing with new innovations as well as staying true to Missoni’s aesthetic.
Guests at the event milled about the second floor which was surrounded by beautiful Missoni fashion (some from the archives) while enjoying cocktails and light bites. We were all thrilled to meet Angela (it was like meeting a rock star) and she was just as happy to meet all of her customers, too!

Angela was accompanied by Neiman Marcus creative director Ken Downing who I was excited to see again as he is one of our all-time favorite stylists. He told me he was traveling with Angela to her next stop, Dallas. I️ asked him if there was one piece of Missoni a woman should own what would it be? A scarf?
“A scarf is too easy!” He told me. “If it had to be one piece I️ would choose a pullover. You can wear it with everything from casual jeans to a ball skirt.” Leave it to Ken to nail that one.
Next I had a chance to meet Angela. After gushing a bit about the brand, I️ asked her the same question.
SCS: What one piece of Missoni must every woman own? I know this sounds crazy…
AM: Well there’s so many pieces! (laughing).
SCS: I️ know, OK so what 2 pieces?
AM: Well every woman must have a dress.
SCS: Yes, I️ already picked out several dresses today!
AM: And the other thing would be some kind of wrap, a cardigan or cover up.
SCS: I love the large square Missoni scarves. You can even make it into a halter top.
AM: Yes, you can wear it as a coverup or wrap and so many different ways.
The experts have spoken! Everyone needs a Missoni dress, a wrap, a pullover and yes, a scarf!
