The holiday season is officially in full swing, which means the parties, gatherings and events are starting to stack up. Whether your calendar is packed or you just have a few special plans, now is the perfect time to think about what you’ll be wearing.
To make getting dressed effortless, I’ve curated a holiday capsule wardrobe especially for women over 50. The goal: look fabulous, feel comfortable, and make every outfit decision simple.

I found a mix of forgiving, flattering and versatile pieces that will take you from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve—and beyond. They can all be mixed and matched, and I’ve included a few outfit ideas to show you how to style them for everything from casual gatherings to cocktail parties.
The best part? You may already own some of these items! Use my capsule as a guide to fill in the gaps in your wardrobe. If you plan ahead, you’ll actually enjoy the holidays more because you won’t have to stress about what to wear when those (sometimes unexpected) invitations pop up. Now all you’ll need to think about is gift shopping—unless you’re one of those women who are already ahead of the game!
