Do you want to add a little color to your otherwise all-black wardrobe? I have the perfect solution. Actually, it’s not a new one—you may remember this shade from the past (think the 80s and 90s). Teal is trending once again for Fall 2025, and it was even named one of Pantone’s top Fall 2025/Winter 2026 New York Fashion Week color trends. See the full Pantone color trend report here.

Pantone calls it Lyons Blue, a deep, luxurious teal that evokes timeless sophistication. Here it is as shown on the runway at Carolina Herrera.
But what exactly is teal? I’d describe it as a dark turquoise or green-blue, though it can range from more blue to more green. It’s a stunning color—reminiscent of a tranquil forest or a deep ocean. And if you’re like me and love to wear black, teal is dark enough to feel understated, while still being just as striking.

Teal can easily replace black pieces in your wardrobe. Try a teal jacket, a teal dress for your next wedding or party, or add a teal handbag or shoes for a subtle pop of color this season. It pairs beautifully with greys, winter white, deep burgundy, caramel, browns, and metallics. However, one thing I remember from the 80s is that teal can clash with certain jeans. Personally, I don’t love it with faded denim, so I recommend styling it with black jeans (I know you already own a pair!).
Here are 7 stylish ways to wear teal this season:

1. Teal Sweater
Nordstrom Oversize Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater, $179
This cozy oversized cashmere turtleneck is all you need to give your wardrobe a lift this season. It looks chic with black jeans and accessories.

2. Teal Pants
Ann Taylor The Margot Pant — Curvy Fit, now $75
Add teal to your wardrobe with a wide-leg pair of pants like these from Ann Taylor. They work beautifully with floral prints and look amazing with metallic pumps.

3. Teal Shoes
Marc Nolan Paige Patent Leather Kitten Heels, $155
Add a pop of teal with these fun kitten-heel pumps. I’d style them with charcoal grey tights and a grey sweater dress—or let them shine with a monochromatic look (all black, tan, chocolate, or burgundy). The removable ankle strap makes them even more versatile.

4. Teal Dress
Julia Jordan Ruched Detail Long Sleeve Satin Gown, $188
If you have a formal event or wedding celebration, try this teal satin gown. The long sleeves and modest neckline are perfect for women over 50. Dress it up with heels for evening, or down with black boots and a jacket for daytime. Maxi dresses are also a top trend this fall.

5. Teal Bag
Aimee Armour Leather Baguette Shoulder Bag, $228
This gold-studded suede teal bag adds both texture and interest to your look. It’s the perfect size for everyday wear.

6. Teal Jacket
NVLT Women’s Bold Stripe Faux Fur Eva Jacket, now $139
A blazer, coat, or jacket in teal is a versatile addition to your fall closet. This faux-fur version will keep you cozy and stylish, whether layered over denim or a little black dress.

7. Teal Sunglasses
Max Mara Glimpse 54mm Round Sunglasses, $230
For a subtle touch, these marbled teal sunglasses from Max Mara are an easy way to nod to the trend.
