Summer Sandal Trend: The Flatform Sandal
Thank God Birkenstocks are once again out of fashion (not that I EVER thought they were in nor would I ever be caught dead in them!). What’s the hot sandal that’s equally as comfortable, but not nearly as ugly this summer? Flatform sandals! You get the height of a heel without the discomfort! Win win. Be warned, don’t try to rock the Frankenstein 4 inch flatform. They will look ridiculous on you if you are over 40 (think “trying too hard”). One or even 2 inches is fine. Any more than that should be for your daughter. Wear your flatform sandals with cropped jeans or even a midi skirt.

This episode of The Real Housewives of New York City begins with Sonja getting a massage and facial (of free sperm) from her gossipy massage/facialist therapist and simultaneously texting. There is nothing stopping her from texting. So relaxing. Getting ready for her birthday party. She’s wearing a towel so there isn’t much to talk about there. “John would never miss the opening of an envelope,” Sonja remarks lovingly. Now to Carole’s apartment where she has invited a psychic. Jules arrives looking skinny and chic with food from Eately which is ironic since Jules doesn’t eat. Then Dorinda arrives wearing a crazy bright silk poncho over and cameo Chanel bag which doesn’t match. Don’t worry, the poncho comes off to reveal a gray turtleneck! Of course, because she has to wear drab gray.
Go For the Gold (Rimmed Sunglasses)
Lately I have been finding myself reaching for my gold rimmed sunglasses. Why? Well they look hot! Seriously, the color compliments pretty much any skin tone and they have a bit of a 70’s vibe which by now we all know is in right now. Thin gold frames look like jewelry and the thicker ones are just funky! Besides, is there any better way to dress up an outfit than with a touch of gold? So go for it! You can always go for classic Ray Ban Aviators and never go wrong, but here are some additional styles I found and some are even under $25!

One thing is for sure, I don’t think I could live in Dallas. The fashion is as loud as the women! OK, that is probably a gross generalization, but this show is NOT helping my opinion of Dallas. The word ‘class’ starts flying right out of the gate this episode where the fight from last week rages on. Hint, if you use the word “class,” chances are you haven’t got any.
Hot Accessory Trend Alert: Reapproach The Silk Floral Brooch
Remember when Carrie wore silk flower pins on Sex And The City and you had to have one – or several? Well hopefully you kept them, because according to Gucci (who we look to lately for fashion inspiration as they are back on track since Alessandro Michele took over of the helm this past year), silk floral pins are the must have trend of the season. Florals are everywhere this season and even on Gucci handbags (you kinda want one too, right?). So leave it to the trendsetting brand to bring the floral brooch back. It wasn’t old-ladyish when Carrie wore it in the 90’s and it doesn’t have to be now either.
