Believe it or not, we are almost close to being out of the woods when it comes to the unforgiving winter weather. Spring/Summer styles are beginning to appear in stores and in our closets and many fashion enthusiasts are starting to plan potential looks for when the weather breaks. One of the key pieces that we will all need to invest in for early spring weather is the transitional jacket. This upcoming season, designers kept them incredibly functional but fabulous and fashionable. Let’s take a look utility jackets for women over 40!
The Utility Jacket Trend
This trend isn’t new, it’s been around for years and will remain in our closets (and in our hearts) for many years to come. However, this season, they have started to get more interesting. There are still classic army green and khaki colors in your traditional cotton twill or nylon. But new for 2018 are the fun colors, prints and unexpected details….think, balloon sleeves, embroidery, fur collars and graphic prints. There is so much to love about this trend and so many ways to try it!
How To Wear Utility JacketS when your Over 40
Come on, ladies. We know this one is easy. You just have to decide what details you like best on your jacket. Do you prefer a bright color or print? Do you like clean lines or asymmetrical cuts? Hood or no hood? The possibilities are endless! I love a utility jacket with lots of pockets and hidden waist cinchers. Being able to accentuate your waist on demand is always a win for me. This detail also allows you to change up the look of the jacket itself and offers a ton of versatility. Besides throwing on your utility jacket with jeans or leggings, a fun way to mix it up is to pair it with a floral print spring dress, a pencil skirt with a graphic tee, or a flowing maxi skirt with a chambray shirt.
