One trend that is most assuredly transitioning from summer to fall is the circle skirt. I concluded this personally when I attended the H&M fall/winter preview yesterday and saw two spectacular circle skirts I’d like to add to my fall wardrobe. The circle skirt isn’t going anywhere soon. The hemlines may be getting a little longer for fall, but there are also plenty of shorter versions for the season as well. Technically a circle skirt is a full, round skirt that is fitted at the waist and drops down in a fuller line as it fans out over the lower part of the body. A true circle should lay flat in a perfect circle. However, you may also find them called A-line skirts, skater skirts and fit n’ flair skirts these days. They appear to come in many names and many lengths.
The true beauty of the circle skirt is that it flatters pretty much any body type and figure. It creates the illusion of a small waist and then brilliantly disguises a multitude of imperfections and sins. I don’t think I have to explain those do I? Circle skirts are also extremely versatile and can be dressed up with a coordinating blouse and jacket and sky-high stilettos or dressed down with a menswear button-down and Oxfords. It’s no wonder they have been coming in and out of fashion consistently since the 50’s! For Fall ’13 you will see the circle skirt on fashion influencers and celebrities from coast to coast. That I’ll guarantee.
Take a look at the vast array we found already available for fall in every fabric, pattern and length imaginable. If you can find one on sale from summer, better still. See you at the sock hop!
