Zara Phillips and John Calleija Jewelry
Zara Phillips Launches Jewelry Collection with Calleija
Zara Phillips, the award-winning equestrian granddaughter of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, unveiled a jewelry collection she designed with Australian jeweler John Calleija. The line, called The Zara Phillips Collection by Calleija, takes its inspiration from Phillips’ sport, with designs that evoke a Saddle in platinum and gold set with white diamonds, and also gives a nod to Phillips’ royal heritage. The collection will initially be sold at Calleija’s boutique in London, and his two stores in Australia — in Sydney and on the Gold Coast. Prices start at a 3,350 pounds, or around $5,260, for a Saddle necklace in white gold set with white diamonds, and rise to 26,800 pounds, or $42,070, for a rose gold Saddle ring set with blush pink diamonds.
J.Crew Executive Fires and Brags
A J.Crew executive reportedly fired several employees, then went out drinking and posted photos to Instagram, celebrating and joking about surviving the layoffs. Alejandro Rhett, vice president of men’s merchandising, delivered news of the firings to several people on Wednesday, which affected 175 people, sources told The New York Post.
Rhett then went to a bar in New York City and posted a series of Instagram photos showing him drinking and tagged them with hashtags like “#hungergames” and “#maytheoddsbeeverinyourfavor” in reference to the Hunger Games book series, where characters are forced to fight to the death.
Jed Krascella Launches High-End Knitwear Collection
Jed Krascella, who worked closely with the late designer Perry Ellis during the late Seventies and Eighties, is introducing a high-end line of knitwear for the resort/holiday season named Jed. Manufactured entirely of cashmere, Jed is comprised of 30 styles of hand- and machine-knit sweaters, wholesaling from $260 to $600. Sizes range from small to extra large.
Jed’s machine-knit sweaters are made of Italian cashmere. He incorporates specialized knitting techniques such as intarsia, cabling and jacquards, creating colorful patterns and witty designs. Hand-knits are constructed of Mongolian cashmere with yarn, hand-dyed in the U.S. Styles include hand-knit shrunken fitted crews, oversize v-neck cardigans and hand-knit cropped flyaway crews.
Jacquie Aiche Collaborates With Rihanna
Rihanna‘s latest ink comes gold and temporary. The pop star has partnered with fine jewelry designer Jacquie Aiche on a collection of metallic temporary tattoos, inspired by the designer’s jewelry. The collection, which comes in a seven-sheet set, includes cuticle and knuckle wraps, a DIY chain set, Gothic letter tattoo, arm bands and chains, and will be sold exclusively on Aiche’s Web site for $19.
