Cheap & Chic’s Evolution as Boutique Moschino
The rejuvenation of the Moschino brand is trickling down to the former Cheap & Chic label, which has been renamed Boutique Moschino. The change of the name telegraphs but is not limited to a customer that is younger, but also leads a busy working and personal life. Boutique Moschino is priced 30 to 40 percent below the signature line. Varisco said the company is dropping the men’s category of the brand and focusing on women’s. In terms of clothing and accessories, excluding licenses for perfume, eyewear and children’s wear, Cheap & Chic used to account for around 40 percent of total Moschino sales. Currently, Boutique Moschino represents 25 to 28 percent of total sales and Varisco said he expects the brand to grow to account for 35 percent.
