It’s bound to be fabulous and we can’t wait to read it!
Designer Luis Estevez Passes Away
Designer Luis Estevez died at the age of 85 in Miami on Friday. The Cuban born designer was a favorite of socialites in New York, Palm Beach and Hollywood in the sixties and seventies. He is best known for dressing First Lady Betty Ford during her husband’s Presidency from 1974 to 1977. Hubert de Givenchy was also Estevez’ best man at his wedding. “The women I’ve known have brought excitement, glamour, love and constructive friendship to my life. And my two grandmothers, different as they were, jointly had all the things I admire in a woman: beauty, glamour, position, gentleness, strength and reckless individuality,” said Estevez said in 1976. He designed everything, including clothes, shoes, hats, jewelry and fabrics. Estevez received many awards throughout his career as well.
Alexander Wang Designs Denim
Alexander Wang’s denim line for women launches today and will be available December 8th at the designer’s NYC store and on his US website. Come January, the denim will be available online internationally and distribution to department stores begins in March. The collection comes in three styles and three washes. Alexander Wang president, Rodrigo Bazan, sees denim as an important part of the company’s expansion. “We’re going to have 21 stores by the end of this year and the more we grow, the more that we believe we have to have a lifestyle component in those stores. Denim was a natural expansion,” he said in a statement.
