Michael Kors and Gwyneth Paltrow Join Forces
Michael Kors and Gwyneth Paltrow are teaming up for a special holiday collaboration for Paltrow’s Goop site. The lineup includes several exclusive limited-edition ready-to-wear pieces created specifically for Goop, as well as additional accessories items from Kors’ collections handpicked by the designer and the Oscar-winning actress.
“Michael’s clothes are gorgeous, staple, American classics that never go out of style,” Paltrow said. Some of the actress’ favorite Kors pieces are being reinvented. Among them is a cashmere cape, a peacoat, and a peplum turtleneck that have all been updated for the times.
Big Moves for VINCE
Vince, which should hit the road for its initial public offering before the end of the year, threw a housewarming party Wednesday night at its new 3,050-square-foot SoHo flagship at 89 Mercer Street in Manhattan. Beth Cohn, senior vice president of retail and e-commerce, said Vince will open its 22nd full-price store by yearend at Columbus Avenue and 71st Street in New York. Like the SoHo store, it too will have two levels.
Also in play for Vince is a kids’ line that will be launched next fall, said Jill Granoff, chief executive officer of Vince and its parent Kellwood Co. She said the kids’ line will cater to both girls and boys.
JewelMint Opens Pop-up Shop
JewelMint has taken a shine to traditional retail. The jewelry website opened a pop-up shop last week at 322 S. Robertson Blvd. in Los Angeles that will run through December. Prices in the shop range mostly from $29.99 to $350, with $40 being the price point getting the “most traction” with customers, according to a representative of the company. In addition to JewelMint merchandise, the pop-up carries jewelry from 15 of the around 85 designers JewelMint includes in a collective assortment featuring smaller brands. A few of those brands are Oia Jules, Upper Class Metal, Nola Singer, Kendra Phillip and I Adorn U. It will also house nine pieces that JewelMint has done with Richard Chai priced from $29.99 to $59.98.
