Best Buy Unveils Designer Tech Accessories
Nanette Lepore, Anna Sui and Isaac Mizrahi have each designed a new line of tech accessories exclusively for Best Buy. The collections include phone, tablet and laptop cases, which are currently available for pre-order at bestbuy.com. The accessories will launch in stores on October 5th. Smartphone cases are priced at $29.99, laptop sleeves are $39.99 and tablet cases range from $34.99 to $39.99. All the proceeds from Lepore’s and Sui’s collections will benefit the CFDA. “We continue to see the intersection of fashion and technology and have partnered with Best Buy to be at the forefront of this innovation,” said CFDA CEO Steven Kolb.
Saks Announces NYC Store Openings
Saks Fifth Avenue is set to open two stores in lower Manhattan. An 85,000-square-foot store in Brookfield Place at 225 Liberty Street and a 55,000- square-foot Saks Off 5TH at One Liberty Plaza will open in spring 2016 and fall 2017, respectively. Hudson’s Bay Company, the department store’s parent corporation, is also leasing 400,000 square feet of office space next to the Brookfield Place location for their corporate associates.
French Elle Taps Francoise-Marie Santucci
Francoise-Marie Santucci has been appointed editorial director at French Elle, succeeding Valérie Toranian who held the position for 13 years. The magazine’s parent company Lagardère Active released a statement saying Santucci embodies the “necessary critical distance and sensitivity to the zeitgeist at the heart of the magazine’s values ​​and cardinal points: society and fashion.” The French media group has been going through major reorganization lately. Santucci previously worked at Libération’s Next magazine.
