I have to admit I was initially a little honked off to find the entire Maison Martin Margiela For H&M has now been marked down to half after of course I paid an obscene amount for the plexi-wedge booties at a press event. However, once my husband forgave me for buying the booties (which I love, by the way) the new reductions gave me the opportunity to try and thus score the Oversize Dress pictured above for far less than the original $129 price tag!
Now initially I never would have considered this dress because I worked too hard to loose weight to wear anything ‘oversized’ and when I saw it was one-size I was really hesitant. Yet, the new price beckoned me to try it on. Guess what? I absolutely loved it. Sure I had to pull the belt tight and wrap the belt around my waist twice, but because this dress has movement (unlike much of the collection) it is actually quite flattering. Who knew? See? Sometimes it pays to try things on.
Now I get that this collection isn’t for everyone. The fashion crowd jumped on it, but I knew it wouldn’t go over in more remote areas. So guess what? You can afford to go outside your comfort zone now and give some of this line a try. If your H&M is like mine, there is quite a selection left. However, if you already bought all the items from the Maison Martin Margiela For H&M at full price, you may not want to venture in. You will probably have that sinking feeling in your stomach like I did. However, after the original sting wears off…you may just buy more!
I commend and support H&M for doing collaborations like these so even though I got stung, all is forgiven. Especially since I scored one of new favorite dresses for a song!
